If you're awkward and you know it...

I can't be the only one who finds gift giving/receiving to be a bit...uncomfortable at times.

What if they don't like it?
What if I don't like what they gave me?
What if the gift sends the wrong message?
Is it a stupid gift?
valentines day gift guide

Valentine's Day can be straight up cringe worthy if you aren't in a relationship or aren't quite clear on the "terms" of the relationship.

Maybe you have a platonic friend you want to acknowledge on this day but don't want it to feel romantic.

I don't know.

Deciding on appropriate thoughtful gifts can be hard!

I mentioned that we don't really go over the top in our house for Valentine's Day, but since having Mallory, I am more inclined to celebrate...

So, I put together a list of gifts should help get the brain juices flowing as you try and decide on your non-awkward gift.

Good luck!

* Tickets- is there a show/event/game in your city that your friend may enjoy? Gift them at least TWO tickets. * Gift Card- I do not mean a Simon or American Express gift card here. If you know they enjoy Starbucks or have a favorite sushi spot, grab that. Put some though into it.
Disclaimer: If they are not Reds fans or went to Auburn do not buy them the items I listed above. A hat with their favorite teams logo or their alma mater may be more appropriate. Nivea Lip Butter alone is not a good gift. ;) You're welcome.

PS. You can still grab FREE Valentine's Day Prints! Don't forget to follow Marry Mint on Instagram to keep up with us while we travel to Houston, TX this week!

  1. These are some really great ideas! We don't do valentines day...no reason why, but I'd like a starbucks gift card anyway! Haha

  2. Ooh these are fantastic? I'm clapping my hands. Cause I'm awkward. So I just got him a card. That's the best way to play it safe - right?

    1. Hahaha! So much better because I was able to picture you clapping your hands ;) Yes! Card=safety. You remembered AND acknowledged. Win!

  3. Gift giving can be so awkward! This is very clever. When in doubt, a bottle of wine is always nice... :)

    1. Yes! Add a little wine and maybe gift giving can be a little less awkward ;)

  4. I hate gift giving in front of people. I would rather have it mailed so either I can enjoy it on my own or they can. Then we don't have to watch everyone try to be happy about it if they aren't. I also think the bottle of wine would help!
