Blogger Men Tell All

For posts like this one, I usually have a plethora of incriminating photos of Kyle ready to be plastered all over the internet. But this time, I'm not very prepared. I had to scrape the bottom of the barrel and pull one out from his college days.

I pinky promise to come more prepared next month. ;)

Take it away Kyle!

If you had a blog, what would you call it and what would it be about?

Really? I wouldn't have a blog because I can't spell. But if I did, it would be about the ridiculous shit women say.

(Isn't he charming?.....)

*I have to be honest. His first answer involved Hitler and survival --- totally not publishable.

If you could live inside any video game, which would it be?

NHL because its the only sport I didn't play.

(It's true. He was even the captain of his high school dance team.)

Who is your best player on your fantasy football team this season?

(Apparently this question was taken very literally...)

If you could play for any professional sports team, which would it be?

Bengals cheerleaders.

(Your legs do look great in a mini skirt.)

What do you typically do with an hour of free time?

Wander my nothing box.

(Dude lives in his "nothing box." Have you seen this YouTube video? That's what he is talking about...)

All jokes aside, I'm so excited to share this space with Kyle again. He will be back the last Tuesday of every month. :)

Hopes & Plans {Link Up}

Welcome to the "Hopes & Plans" link up! Any hopeful or goal-oriented post is welcome! It can be your life's dreams, aspirations, monthly goals or simply your chore list. Share with us! I hope for this to be a place where we can come to be inspired and motivated by the things other people have in the works. The possibilities are endless! Most things in life begin by first having a hope and then some kind of plan.

We have a sick baby in our house. :( Is there anything more pitiful? My top hope for the week is that our Mally feels better quick! Her Nana is in town and later this week my Granny gets here, so she won't be short on people to cuddle with.

Here's how I did with last week's hopes & plans...

|| Send my mom a shopping list. Check. List was sent and executed!

|| Sign Mallory up for swim lessons. Nope. I've decided where I want her to take lessons, that counts for something, right? And call to schedule? Who does that? Get on the internet!!

|| Schedule the dogs vet apptYep, we are going to the vet tomorrow. This time I won't be entertaining the staff by juggling a baby and two huge dogs solo. ;) High five for extra hands!

This Week's Hopes & Plans : (with a touristy twist!)

one || Visit Talkeetna. This might be weird but every time I got the doctor in Anchorage they always ask me if i've been up to Talkeetna yet (I have to get kind of personal with my doctors, remember?)... This week, their nagging will finally pay off! It's only a 2 hour drive...no big!

two || Visit the Reindeer Farm's Fall Festival. Last weekend we went to Pyrah's Fall Festival and thought it would be fun to try out another local spot. Heres to coming home with a pumpkin!

three || Attend a yoga class. If this actually happens, I will be on cloud 9! I have missed yoga so so much! (and running too, but lets not get greedy)

four || Hit turf time & a few playgrounds with Nana. We may even play with the baby too! ;) Are you ever too old to have your mom push you on the swing? I think not!

five || Update our wreath. I still have our spring/summer wreath on the front door and it's time to retire it for the season. I have a couple of local shops I plan on investigating to find my perfect fall wreath!

Your turn!!!!

Friday Stuff n' Thangs

We survived! Another week in the books. Lets get down to business, short, sweet and to the point.

I confess that during yesterday's earthquake I was 100% confused. It took me the duration of the quake to figure out what exactly was going on. Granted, I'd never felt anything quite like that before, but I was certainly not quick on my feet. (Not that I knew what I was supposed to do anyway. Oops!) The dogs started barking, which is annoying. The baby kept doing baby things... Then the doors started slamming and everything shook! It sounded like somebody parked a garbage truck in our living room. Intense!

My Mom arrives today! Sometimes you just need your mama. (Almost as much as she needs to see her grand baby...) Shoutout to my sibs for sharing her with me for a few weeks.

Kyle will be gracing this here blog with his presence very soon. I'm so excited that Samantha and company started a new monthly linkup for the blogger men! I sent Kyle his questions and he instantly took a stab at one of them... he quickly text back "no wait, you can't publish that!" This should be fun..
Back. In. Action.

Becoming Adorrable

I may or may not have caught up on Switched At Birth. And by caught up I mean watched the whole damn series on Netflix. A Netflix binger has been long overdue and it's been a while since I got hooked on a teeny bopper show. Gotta keep my street cred.

I like to welcome people to my home by forcing them to run a 5k within 24 hours of their arrival. Yep. I'm dragging my mom to the Color Fun Fest 5k the day after she arrives. We will also be knocking out Mallory's first (out of the womb) 5k. I figure a huge mess and lots of loud noise should be the perfect recipe for baby happiness, right?

What do you have going on this weekend?

Mallory's Eleven Month Update

Well well well. Here we are at the last monthly update before I have a ONE YEAR OLD!

Miss Mally has been keeping me on my toes lately, while she stands on hers of course. She is much more confident on her feet and happily walks with the help of her nearby couch, coffee table, chair or parents' leg.

Mallory is saying dada, mama, yes and this. She is probably using a couple more words than that, but goodness she babbles all day long! It takes me a while to put it together... ;) It is fun listening to her experiment with different sounds. Lately it sounds like she is speaking a foreign language. Lots of yodeling like sounds HA!

Changing Mal's diaper and getting her dressed is quite the production. Kyle says it's like wrangling a wild hog and I'd have to agree. She has me dreading diaper changes just as much as she does. Is this just a phase? Please...

She is still wearing size 4 diapers and 12 months in Carters. I buy her clothes in the 12 months to 2T range; it totally depends on the brand!

Mallory totally loves being outside! She has pretty much happy across the board as long as we are outdoors. I suppose I can't complain much about that. ;) She still puts any and everything in her mouth. Among her favorites are rocks, dirt and grass. She has also taken up licking things which is always good for a laugh from Mom and Dad. At some point I'm sure it will stop being funny...

One of my favorite developments this past month was Mally started giving kisses!! The mouth wide open kind...so sweet! She can be kind of stingy with her kisses, she has to be in the right mindset. Can we hold that against her? I think not.

We have been spending lots of weekdays at Turf Time. Mallory loves watching the other kids play, crawling around like a crazy person and licking all the toys. Kyle was able to join us for the first time a week or so ago. :) It's amazing how early they start to interact differently with each parent. They play totally different together than Mal and I do.  (Check out the wild hair day she was having! Hehe!)

And just like that I'm less than a month away from having a one year old. This parenting gig is a real trip! It's nearly impossible to imagine what our lives were like before we had Mal...It's just way too good now.
We love you kiddo!

Pyrah's Fall Festival

It seems like Kyle is out of town for the better part of this season, so I was pumped when a family activity actually lined up with a weekend he was home! Pyrah's Pioneer Peak Farm is Alaska's largest U-Pick location and just a few miles from our house! (Remember, I just tried this place for the first time a few weeks ago!) Each year they host a fall festival to celebrate the harvest! Since fall lasts approximately 30 seconds here in Alaska, we just had to partake in the festivities. They had a little bit of everything fall! Angry spuds, corn maze, potato sack races, hay rides, and a leaf throwing pit just to name a few.

I wasn't expecting the fields to be open, but sure enough, they were! We were planning on making this Zuppa Toscana copycat recipe for dinner that night, so we decided to pick some fresh potatoes and kale while we were there. (That recipe turned out amazing! Definitely recommend it.)

While we were further away from the commotion, we decided to take advantage of the great weather and beautiful scenery to snap a few photos. I was kicking myself for not throwing on some make up and bringing my tripod...Christmas cards anyone?! Ha!

scarf (similar) || jacket
One of our only complaints about this event was that they just didn't seem prepared for such a large turnout. The lines were insane by the time we made our way back from the fields! Also, the "pumpkin patch" wasn't very impressive, so we left empty handed in that regard. BUT, we had a great time nonetheless. In fact, just as the lines were starting to get long, we grabbed a couple of barbecue sandwiches, a funnel cake and a slice of pumpkin pie.  If pumpkin pie doesn't get you in the mood for fall, I don't know what will. ;)
Do you have any fall festivals in your area?

Hopes & Plans {Link Up}

I had such a good time last week browsing through your fall wish lists! If you have any ideas for other themed hopes & plans link ups, please let me know! I love to spice things up around here every now and then :)

Lets take it wayyyy back to two weeks ago and see if the extra time allowed me to shoot 100% on the ol' list...

|| Put our house back together! Furniture is officially back in place. Nobody likes sleeping in the living room next to a crib, couch, tv and kitchen table, now do they. The painting portion of our project isn't quite over yet, but we are much more functional around here. ;)

|| Order prints. Nope. I need to do this. I think my issue is that I don't exactly know where I want to put the prints...

|| Take a couple of outfit photos. Eeeek! I totally took a few. *cringe* You'll have to stand by for this one...

This Week's Hopes & Plans :

one || Send my mom a shopping list. Mom is coming into town later this week and I've been meaning to send her a list of "lower 48 necessities"(#firstworldproblems) to bring for us. Time's a ticking'!

two || Sign Mallory up for swim lessons. This is something I've been looking forward to doing with Mally this fall/winter. :)

three || Schedule the dogs vet appt. A big "Alaska perk" if you are a pet owner is that you do not need to give your dogs monthly flea/tick OR heart worm preventatives! ($$$) Those suckers can't survive up here. My dogs do however need their bordatella vaccines updated at some point this month. It's about time to get it on the books!

Your turn!

My First ipsy Glam Bag

I've confessed my love for subscription boxes in the past, right? I just had to spill about the latest one to join my subscription box family. (Ok well, this one is a bag, but you get my point.) I joined the wait list for ipsy a few months ago and finally got my first glam bag this week! After just one experience, I can already tell that this one is right up my alley!

Photobombing my own stuff.... FAIL!

Each month with ipsy you will receive a healthy mix of deluxe samples and full sized beauty products all tucked into an adorable little bag. I'm more than happy to accumulate these little guys as they will help me organize the Marry Poppins like diaper bag I'm workin' with. The subscription costs you $10 a month and you definitely get your money's worth!
Here's what I got!

Infinity Shadow/Crease Duet Brush || This brush retails for $6.99. It is so soft and applies shadows effortlessly. Something about this brush makes me feel like I have more control over where I place product on my lid. Admittedly, I'm not a big eyeshadow girl, so a brush like this one is brand new to my collection!
Hot Singles Eyeshadow by NYX - ADDICTION || This product retails for $4.50. Again, eye shadow isn't a major part of my beauty routine. I normally reserve eye shadow for special occasions only, but I did through some on today, you know, for research purposes. ;) This shadow is surprisingly pigmented and paired with my new brush, it applied evenly. I don't hate it...
Water- Proof Eye Pencil by Pacifica - FRINGE || The full size version of this product retails for $11.00. The brand Pacifica prides itself on being 100% vegan and cruelty free which is pretty cool! The color they sent me is exactly what I like to wear. I've only swatched this on the back of my hand so far, and it was a very smooth application. I will get back to you after I've worn it all day.

Don't Despair, Repair | Deep Conditioning Hair Mask || The full size version of this product retails for $26.00. I used this the night I received my ipsy glam bag in the mail! You know I'm all about a good hair mask... This wasn't it. :( I wanted to love it, really! It didn't really leave my hair feeling any softer and I ended up having to shampoo my hair again just to get the sticky residue out. I will certainly give it another shot, but my first impression wasn't so hot.
Art Touch Tinted Lip Gloss Stick - Basic Instinct || This product retails for $19.00. Amazing! Hands down my favorite product in this glam bag. I love the formula and the color selection  is outstanding! After wearing it for a few hours, it was staying with me! Staying power is the key to my heart when it comes to lipstick. I will certainly be purchasing this stuff in additional shades!

An added little bonus with ipsy is that each company offers you a promo code should you choose to purchase additional products from them. For example, that lip gloss stick I got came with a promo code giving me 20% off my purchase plus 2 deluxe samples! Twist my arm why don't ya!

You can sign up for your own ipsy glam bag subscription here!

Happy Wednesday!
