A new look means we all get to take down memory lane and revisit our wedding! Yay! Ok, just bear with me.... I know that a version of this post has been featured on the navigation bar for the past several months, but we can't loose my wedding in the name of a blog redesign, now can we? To spice things up I added several pictures for those of you who may have already checkout the old "wedding" tab. ;)
On to the wedding goodness!
It was really important to me and Kyle that our wedding be small, beautiful, affordable and most importantly, represent us. We feel the purpose of a wedding is to allow those who love you to share in your promises to each other and to God.
We were married on Friday, March 16, 2012 in Knoxville, TN. This is where we met and earned our bachelor degrees, so it was the perfect place to be married. We selected the Hilton hotel downtown as our ceremony and reception venue. The staff there were an absolute dream to work with!
These photos tell the story of our wedding day just beautifully...
I found my wedding dress at a local bridal boutique in Knoxville; White Lace & Promises. I immediately fell for the lace pattern on this dress! The silhouette and fit made me feel so comfortable and pretty.
WARDROBE MALFUNCTION!! Bright blue undies do not work under this wedding dress. I may have ended up going commando on my wedding day.... Everything can't be perfect, right? HA!
We chose to do a "first look" and it ended up being our favorite part of the day! Our photographer recommends doing them to help work out the nerves and not feel rushed during pictures. We just loved being able to hang out and have time to ourselves before the ceremony. We highly recommend the first look as well!
My "something blue" was the button detailing on my bouquet. I worked with Matt from Echelon Florist in Knoxville. He was extremely professional and really kept things simple and stress free!
This was the part in the day where Kyle explains to me how he forgot our marriage license. He went home to get it, don't worry. It's legal.
I asked my bridesmaids to pick out a green dress. Any style. Any shade. I loved the mismatched, laid back look it gave things. Not to mention, not one of these beautiful ladies is soft spoken, so it saved me from hearing about how I picked out an awful bridesmaid dress. ;)
Here is our family! How often in life do you get to have all grandparents, parents and siblings in one place? Can't put a price tag on this photo.
My grandparent's pastor came all the way from Pennsylvania to marry us! It was an extra special touch to our ceremony.
We now use the mason jars from our centerpieces as our drinking glasses at home. We are either really sentimental or really cheap. You get to decide. ;)
Our guests were in town for the weekend, so we had lots planned! On Saturday we took everyone on our favorite hike in the Smokey Mountains, Chimney Tops Trail. Later that evening we all had dinner at Downtown Grill and Brewery, one of our all time favorite restaurants in downtown Knoxville! Sunday we invited everyone over to our place for breakfast before we took off on our Jamaican honeymoon!
